"Bridge Collapse in Khanakul Disrupts Travel, Forces 2.5-Hour Detour"

The important bridge at Ajgubi Tola in Khanakul has collapsed and been swept away by the floodwaters. The incident occurred at around 10:30 AM at the Ajgubi Tola ghat in Harishchak village, Khanakul police station area. This collapse has disrupted communication between three districts, necessitating a detour of two and a half hours instead of a 30-second route. The local administration, police personnel, political parties, and general public have been monitoring the situation. Despite efforts by the ghat authorities, the wooden bridge could not be saved, and half of it was consumed by the rising river waters. Currently, communication remains disrupted, and various administrative departments are working on quick solutions for river crossing.

At the Ajgubi Tola ferry ghat, Khanakul police are enforcing strict surveillance. Many locals have been seen taking selfies and videos at the damaged bridge site, despite police prohibitions to prevent accidents. Ramen Pramanik, the Trinamool Block President of Khanakul 2, was present at the ghat.
