The crime took place on August 21, 2023, when a school student, referred to as Abhaya, was brutally raped and killed in an abandoned area within the Matigara Police Station's jurisdiction. The Matigara police swiftly arrested MD Abbas within six hours of the crime. Since then, the case has been closely followed as the community waited for justice.

The court had previously set two dates to deliver the verdict, but both were postponed. Finally, on September 4, the court held another hearing and found MD Abbas guilty on multiple charges. The public now eagerly awaits the sentence, which will be announced in two days.
