"MLA Sikha Chatterjee Stages Sit-In at NJP Police Station After Stone-Throwing Incident"

On Wednesday, MLA Sikha Chatterjee held a sit-in protest outside the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Police Station after stones were allegedly thrown at her and BJP MP Jayanta Roy.

Earlier in the day, MLA Sikha Chatterjee led a 12-hour strike in the NJP Netaji More area. During the strike, she claimed that TMC supporters attacked her while she was trying to close down shops as part of the protest. Despite a heavy police presence in the area, she was reportedly attacked again with stones and managed to escape on a scooter.

Later, BJP MP Jayanta Roy came to the area to support the MLA, but his vehicle was also targeted by demonstrators who threw stones and surrounded him. Both the MLA and the MP then went to the NJP police station to file a complaint. Following this, MLA Sikha Chatterjee staged a sit-in protest outside the police station, demanding action against those responsible.
