76-Year-Old Woman Dies at Siliguri Hospital After Alleged Treatment Delay

Tension broke out at Siliguri District Hospital after the death of a 76-year-old woman, Nihar Bala Das, who allegedly died due to delays in her treatment.

Das was taken to the hospital from Ward No. 17 on Tuesday morning. Initially, she went to the emergency department, where doctors suggested she see an outpatient doctor. After this consultation, the doctor recommended that she be admitted. However, her family claims there was a delay of about one and a half hours before she was finally admitted, leading to her unfortunate passing.

Her family has accused the hospital of being negligent, arguing that the delays contributed to her death. They have submitted a formal complaint to the hospital superintendent. Hospital superintendent Chandan Ghosh acknowledged receiving a verbal complaint and said an investigation team has been set up to examine the situation. He promised that a report would be released to clarify what happened.
