BSF NORTH BENGAL ORGANISED MEET THE PRESS EVENT AT KADAMTALA
On 4th Dec 2025, Sh Mukesh Tyagi, Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF), North Bengal Frontier, interacted with members of the prestigious media houses during a “Meet the Press” event, highlighted the Frontier’s operational achievements, current challenges and ongoing initiatives to strengthen border security in the area of responsibility under North Bengal Frontier.
During the session, the IG BSF provided an in-depth overview of the security scenario along the India-Bangladesh border, emphasizing BSF commitment to maintaining peaceful, safe, and crime-free borders. IG said that, the North Bengal Frontier owing to its unique terrain comprising rivers, dense vegetation and cross-border population linkages requires a high degree of vigilance and coordinated efforts.
IG BSF outlined the Frontier’s strategy to curb trans-border crimes including smuggling of cattle, narcotics, gold, and other contrabands. Deployment of modern surveillance systems, increased night-domination patrols and coordinated intelligence-sharing have significantly improved operational outcomes. Frontier has achieved notable success in detecting and seizing contrabands and stressed on the importance of winning trust of local population. IG highlighted several civic action programmes, medical camps and youth outreach initiatives conducted in border villages. These efforts aim to foster cooperation with border residents and encourage community participation in ensuring security.
IG praised all the media houses for their continuous support and projecting positive image of BSF though their news on electronic, print as well as on social media and also, wishes to maintain such rapport in future.
The IG underlined the rigorous training, modernization of equipment, and welfare measures undertaken for BSF personnel. IG reiterated that BSF remains fully prepared to respond to any challenge with professionalism and dedication with its motto of “ Jeevan Paryant Kartavya”.
