Bagdogra new building to come up in 24 months once the work says Darjeeling MP
Darjeeling BJP MP Raju Bista said that the design of the new complex of the Bagdogra airport has already been completed, and work is for Engineering, Procurement, and construction (EPC) work is expected to begin very soon. Once started, the construction will be completed within 24 months.
Bista on Thursday attended the Airport Advisory Committee Meeting at Bagdogra. He was accompanied by Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandmay Barman other Airport Advisory Committee members, representatives from Air Force, representatives of the various Airlines, and CISF.
"Bagdogra is the only functional civilian airport in North Bengal. Roughly around 7500-8000 passengers pass the airport on a daily basis. Because of which, the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has allocated Rs 1884 crores towards the redevelopment of Bagdogra Airport", said Bista.
He said after the work is competed Bagdogra will become the first international airport in our region. This will help cement our region as the hub of international travel, tourism and trade.
