Fire in hotel kills one

Siliguri: A person died after a hotel and a shop  was gutted in  fire at Sevok more in Siliguri on Friday. Police have identified the deceased as  Parimal Das.According to the sources,  Parimal slept after closing the hotel as usual.
The fire broke out suddenly at around 3 in the night. Due to the gas cylinder in the hotel, the fire spread rapidly and  a mobile shop in the neighborhood  also caught fire. According to the fire officials, two fire engines reached the spot and managed to douse the flames in a two hour long operation. 

According to the preliminary investigations the course of the fire has been suspected to be short circuit. However, the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. Police have started an investigation to trace the exact sequence of events.
