Illegal Call Center Uncovered at Siliguri’s Webel IT Park, Several Detained

Another illegal call center has been discovered operating from the government-owned Webel IT Park, Phase-1, in Paribahan Nagar, under the Matigara police station in Siliguri.

Acting on a tip-off, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and plain-clothes officers from the Matigara police station raided an office on the first floor of Phase-1. They found the call center was operating under the appearance of being government-affiliated but was actually unauthorized.

During the raid, police seized a laptop, several computers, landline phones, and important documents. Several employees were taken in for questioning. Initial findings showed that the call center was scamming people overseas.

This incident is not the first of its kind at Webel IT Park. The SOG and Matigara police had previously uncovered similar operations in the same facility.
