MP Raju Bista Demands Swift Action for Gorkha Man’s Death in Delhi NCR
New Delhi, 15th November 2024:Darjeeling MP and BJP National Spokesperson, Raju Bista, visited Safdarjang Hospital today to offer condolences to the family of Ravi Thapa, a Gorkha man from Limbudhura in Tingling, Mirik, who tragically lost his life after being struck by a Thar vehicle in a hit-and-run incident. The incident occurred in Chakarpur Gaon, Gurugram, Haryana, part of the Delhi NCR region. The accident left other individuals injured as well.
In response to complaints from the family about slow police action, Bista spoke directly with Haryana Government officials and police authorities, pressing them to ensure a swift arrest and to pursue strict legal action against the driver. Haryana Police have since assured Bista of their commitment to apprehending the culprit and seeking justice for Thapa.
Expressing concern over similar delays in justice for victims from Darjeeling and the North East region, Bista underscored the need for efficient responses in such cases. "In Delhi NCR, we have seen several cases where delays, particularly for victims from Darjeeling and the North East, bring added grief to families," he stated, urging officials to prioritize timely action in cases like Thapa’s.
Bista also commended the Gorkha community in Delhi for their unity and support for Thapa’s family during this time of sorrow. "The solidarity shown by the Gorkhas living in Delhi is exemplary," he remarked, extending his gratitude to those who rallied around the family and condemned the tragic incident.
Concluding his visit, Bista expressed his heartfelt condolences to Thapa’s family, assuring them they were not alone. "I am here for you always. We all stand with you," he said, pledging his continued support to the bereaved family.
