One killed and two workers injured after the structure of an under construction multi-storey building caves in

One killed and two other workers injured after falling from the seventh floor of an under construction building at Ward 42 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday afternoon . The workers are yet to be identified said the police officials.
The injured have been identified as Sanjay Roy and Surya Roy while the deceased is yet to be identified. The deceased was a rod mechanic on site. The injured were rushed to a private health facility nearby while the body of the deceased has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
According to the information sources , a residential multi - storied building was under construction at Rai colony at Ward 42 . The work of casting the roof of the seventh floor was going on.
laborers working on the site said the structure collapsed killing one and injuring two others after a pressure machine was started while pouring concrete in the edge beams.
"The structure was erected with the support of iron pipe and ply wood There were no proper safety arrangements for the labourers . The laborers were working at a height of more than 70 feet without safety belts", said the workers working on the site.
Siliguri Metropolitan Police ACP (East) Shubhendra Kumar along with the Ward Councilor reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
" We are yet to identify the deceased. We are yet to ascertain the casue of the incident. Investigations has been initiated", said Kumar. (EoM)
