Punjab Kings Create History, Beat KKR by 16 Runs After Scoring Just 111
Punjab Kings (PBKS) made history in IPL 2025 by defending the lowest total ever in a 20-over match. They beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs in Match 31 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium, Mullanpur.
Batting first, PBKS were all out for just 111 runs in 15.3 overs. Harshit Rana was the top bowler for KKR, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine took 2 wickets each. It looked like an easy chase for KKR.
KKR started well and were 62/2 at one stage with Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi at the crease. But then the match turned completely. Rahane was out, and Yuzvendra Chahal led the PBKS fightback. He took 4 wickets for 28 runs. Marco Jansen also bowled brilliantly, getting 3 for 17.
KKR lost wickets quickly and were bowled out for just 95 runs in 15.1 overs. Punjab Kings won the match by 16 runs, creating a new IPL record by defending the lowest total ever in a full T20 game.
