Raju Bista Hails Inauguration of Burdwan Road Flyover, Highlights Infrastructure Push in North Bengal
Siliguri: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista welcomed the inauguration of the Burdwan Road Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Siliguri, describing it as a major step towards improving connectivity in the city.
In a statement, Bista said he joined Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at the inauguration of the flyover connecting Air View More and Jhankar More. He claimed that although the Central Government had allocated ₹68.75 crore for the project, it remained incomplete for several years under the previous state government, causing inconvenience to commuters.
According to Bista, the completion of the flyover will reduce travel time, improve road safety, and benefit residents, students, traders, tourists, and emergency services.
The MP also highlighted several ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in North Bengal, including the Bagdogra Airport Development Project, NJP Railway Station redevelopment, the Siliguri Elevated Highway Corridor, NH-717A, the Jaldhaka–Bindu Highway, the Siliguri Ring Road, an alternative route to Coronation Bridge, the Darjeeling alternative highway, the Darjeeling–Lebong–3rd Mile Circular Road, Matigara–Mirik road connectivity, Rohini Road upgradation, and the Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway. He said these projects are expected to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, promote tourism, strengthen trade, and generate employment across the Darjeeling hills, Terai, Dooars, and Siliguri.
