Rotary Club of Siliguri Midtown inaugurated Chemistry Lab & Water Filter at Sarda Vidya Mandir
Siliguri, 24th August:
Rotary Club of Siliguri Midtown, with the support of Rotary District 3240 Foundation 2024–25, inaugurated a newly established Chemistry Laboratory and a Water Filter Plant at Sarda Vidya Mandir (HS), Fulbari. The project has been implemented under the district grant and has been named “Jal aur Vigyaan”.
The programme began with a soulful prayer by the school students, followed by welcome songs. Floral tributes were offered to Maa Bharti and Maa Saraswati, after which the auspicious chanting of “Om” and Gayatri Mantra created a spiritual ambience.
The inauguration was conducted by Immediate Past District Governor Rtn. Sukhminder Singh through the ceremonial breaking of coconut. Immediate Past Secretary Rtn. Pradip Khemka lit the lamp, while Immediate Past President Rtn. Rakesh Agarwal delivered the welcome address. Current President Rtn. Sanjay Goyal Jr. extended the vote of thanks, and Secretary Rtn. Dr. Nikhil Agarwal highlighted the importance of the Chemistry Lab for the benefit of nearly 984 students of the school.
The newly inaugurated Chemistry Laboratory has been equipped with modern furniture, instruments, chemicals, and accessories to support higher science education at the school. Alongside, a high-capacity Water Filter Plant capable of serving drinking water to about 1800 students per hour was also inaugurated.
On behalf of the school, Secretary Shri Bimal Krishna Das and member Shri Laxmi Narayan Sarkar graced the event, along with other faculty members and a large number of students.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries expressed confidence that the lab will inspire students to pursue science education and open new opportunities at the higher secondary level in the future.
The Project Chairman & Convenor, Rtn. Manoj Sharma, was especially appreciated for his dedicated efforts in successfully implementing this impactful project. The presence and participation of Rotary family members added to the significance of the occasion.
At the end of the programme, sweets and chocolates were distributed among the students, marking a joyous conclusion to the event.
