The Jalpaiguri district administration is set to start a shikara ride on the Teesta canal at Gajaldoba within a week. The move was taken to attract more tourists at Gajaldoba said the administrative officials.
Jalapiguri District magistrate Moumita Godara said intitailly two boats will be operated and have been decorated by the district administration. More boats will be added later.
"At present we have decorated two boats accomodating six tourists at each boat. The boats are normal old boats, the administration has just decorated it. The boatmen have also agreed as they are under a coperation. Later we will be adding more boats", said Godara.
