Naxalbari: The Sikkim Mahananda Express will now stop at Naxalbari Railway Station from Tuesday. The Alipurduar–Delhi bound train will halt for two minutes at the station.
The new stoppage was inaugurated with a green flag by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista. MLA Anandamoy Barman and railway officials were also present at the event.
As the train arrived at Naxalbari via Bagdogra, local residents celebrated the moment with great enthusiasm.
The MP said that the new stoppage will boost development in Naxalbari and benefit students, tourists, and patients traveling for medical treatment. With this addition, a total of nine trains will now stop at the station.
He also assured that Naxalbari may soon get a stoppage for the Capital Express as well.
