Mass Bhagavad Gita Recitation in Siliguri: One Lakh Voices to Unite on December 15

 

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, one lakh people will come together at Siliguri's Kawakhali Grounds for a grand recitation of the Bhagavad Gita. Organized by the Sanatan Sanskriti Sangh, the event aims to bring people together to chant the sacred verses in unison. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Siliguri Journalist Club by the organizing committee, which includes spiritual leaders such as Bandhu Gaurav Brahmachari, Dharmanand Maharaj, Bhakti Vedanta Sajjan Maharaj, Radha Ballab Ji Maharaj, and Prakash Brahmachari.

 

### Event Schedule:

- **Music Program:** 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM  

The event will begin with a musical performance, featuring devotional songs to set a spiritual tone for the day. 

 

- **Procession and Flag Hoisting:** 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM  

A ceremonial procession and flag hoisting will follow, symbolizing unity and the beginning of the day’s proceedings.

 

- **Reception:** 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM  

Participants and guests will be welcomed during this hour, allowing time for settling in and preparing for the main event.

 

- **Mangalacharan (Auspicious Invocation):** 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM  

The spiritual invocation will take place, invoking blessings for the success of the program.

 

- **Welcome Speech:** 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM  

The organizing committee will formally welcome the attendees and provide an overview of the significance of the event.

 

- **Chief Guest Address:** 12:30 PM to 12:50 PM  

A special guest will address the gathering, discussing the importance of the Bhagavad Gita and its relevance to modern society.

 

- **Song “Hey Parthasarathi” (Hymn):** 12:50 PM to 1:00 PM  

A devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Krishna as Parthasarathi (the charioteer of Arjuna) will be performed, building up to the main recitation.

 

- **Bhagavad Gita Recitation:** 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM  

The highlight of the event will be the mass recitation, where one lakh people will chant the Bhagavad Gita in unison, creating a powerful spiritual atmosphere.

 

- **Shankh Sounding and Gita Aarti:** 2:00 PM to 2:15 PM  

Following the recitation, the sound of conch shells will fill the air, and a Gita aarti (prayer) will be performed to conclude the spiritual activity.

 

- **President’s Address:** 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM  

The event will conclude with a speech by the president of the organizing committee, reflecting on the significance of the day and the event’s impact.

 

- **Vote of Thanks:** 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM  

A formal vote of thanks will be given to all participants, guests, and volunteers for their efforts in making the event a success.

 

### Spiritual and Cultural Significance:

The organizers emphasized the importance of Bengal as a land of spiritual heritage. From Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo, Bengal has been home to many great spiritual leaders. However, they noted that Bengal is currently facing cultural and spiritual challenges. The aim of this massive Gita recitation is to revive the values of brotherhood, humanity, and love. The Bhagavad Gita is seen as a guide to overcome the crises in modern society, and this event is a call for people across Bengal to come together and draw strength from its teachings.

 

The Sanatan Sanskriti Sangh has extended an open invitation to all devotees and Gita enthusiasts, urging them to actively participate in this historic event and make it a grand success.
