Tragic Bus Accident in Sikkim: 6 Dead, 15 Injured
A tragic bus accident occurred on Friday afternoon on the Siliguri-Gangtok route. The bus, with the registration number WB 73 C 4535, fell into a gorge near Atal Setu in Rangpo, West Bengal, around 3:00 PM. The vehicle plunged about 150 feet into the Teesta River. The incident took place under the Kalimpong police jurisdiction.
Rescue efforts were quickly launched, with locals and law enforcement working to free the passengers. Six people died at the scene, and 15 others were injured. The injured were initially taken to Rangpo Hospital and then moved to Gangtok for further treatment. Ambulances from both private companies and the Sikkim Health Department assisted in the rescue.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which has deeply affected the local community.
