Center sanctions 284 projects to ensure 'Har Ghar Jal' in three districts.

BJP Darjeeling MP, Raju Bista on Friday said that the government of India has sanctioned 714 projects in the rural regions of three districts to ensure ' Har Ghar Jal' in every household.
Bista said the projects worth Rs 2450.34 crores will be implemented in the rural regions of three districts of Darjeeling , Kalimpong and North Dinajpur to ensure 'Har Ghar Jal' in every household. This is in addition to the funds already sanctioned for urban areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.
"The government has sanctioned 284 projects worth Rs 1070.77 crores for Darjeeling District, Rs 518.64 crores for Kalimpong District, and 284 projects worth Rs 860.93 crore for the district of North Dinajpur. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Jal Shakti/ department of drinking water and sanitation Gajendra Singh Sekhawat for fulfilling a long pending demand of our region", said Bista who is also the national spokesperson of the BJP. He further assured that though it may take time, but BJP will fulfil all the commitments we have made to the people from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars.
Bista informed that Drinking water scarcity has been a persistent problem for our region, and despite getting the highest amount of rainfalls, almost all towns and many villages from Darjeeling, Kalimpong and North Dinajpur district have been facing acute shortage of water. The drinking water problem is so acute in rural regions, especially in the tea gardens that people have to spend hours every day, just to fetch a bucket of water. (EoM)
