Dc Gangtok chairs the first meeting of the newly elected zilla panchayat members

Gangtok (IPR): Shri Ragul K, Returning Officer cum DC Gangtok chaired the first meeting of the Zilla Panchayats at the conference hall of EDZP, Gangtok. Shri Tushar Nikare, Assistant Returning Officer cum ADC, Gangtok and other officials were present. 
The purpose of the meeting was to elect the members for Zilla Adhyaksha and Zilla Upa- Adhyaksha. The reservation for the Zilla Adhyaksha is OBC, State and the reservation for the Zilla Upa -Adhyaksha is OBC, State, Women. After the election process, Shri Balaram Adhikari of Samdong - Kambal was elected as Zilla Adhyaksha and Smt Devi Maya Pradhan of Samlik - Namli as Zilla Upadhyaksha. Shri Ragul K congratulated all the elected representatives of Zilla Panchayats under Gangtok District. He said that Gangtok District has a well existing established administrative, accounts, and engineering cell and asked all the elected members to work in tandem with a collective approach for  the development of the State. 
Shri Balaram Adhikari thanked all the representatives of Zilla Panchayats for electing him as Zilla Adhyaksha and said that he would abide by all rules and added that he would in his power exercise his responsibilities for the betterment of the public and society at large. Later, the newly elected Zilla Adhyaksha and Zilla Upa-Adhyaksha were escorted to their official chamber at EDZP, Gangtok.
