DGP Rajeev Kumar Visits Siliguri After Islampur Incident
Siliguri: West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar visited North Bengal on Thursday following the Islampur incident where police officers were shot at. Upon landing at Bagdogra Airport in the morning, he immediately went to a private hospital in Siliguri to meet the injured police personnel undergoing treatment.
After spending about an hour at the hospital, DGP Kumar proceeded to the Siliguri Police Commissionerate, where he addressed the media. Speaking briefly, he reaffirmed the police's commitment to public safety and issued a strong warning against attacks on law enforcement. "If a criminal fires at the police, the police will retaliate with four times the force," he warned.
He assured that the culprits responsible for the attack would be brought to justice and that strict action would be taken. Following his statement, the DGP declined to answer questions and left for the incident site by road.
DGP Kumar's strong remarks underline the police department's firm stance against threats to its personnel, signaling serious consequences for offenders.
