IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Edge Out Rajasthan Royals in Super Over Thriller
In a nail-biting finish at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals in a Super Over to secure their fifth win in six matches of IPL 2025.
Both teams scored 188 runs in their 20 overs, pushing the match into a dramatic Super Over. Rajasthan batted first in the tiebreaker and managed 11 runs, losing Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal to run-outs. Delhi chased it down with ease, as Tristan Stubbs sealed the win by hitting Sandeep Sharma for a six on the fourth ball.
The thrilling climax was set up by strong performances on both sides. Delhi’s total of 188 for five was powered by a late surge, with Axar Patel and Stubbs smashing 77 runs in the final five overs. Earlier, Abishek Porel and K.L. Rahul added a steady 63-run stand for the third wicket.
In reply, Rajasthan’s chase was led by half-centuries from Jaiswal and Nitish Rana. Despite needing 73 off the last six overs, the Royals stayed in the game. Rana took charge after Jaiswal fell to Kuldeep Yadav, but Mitchell Starc’s tight final over and a brilliant run-out on the last ball kept RR from clinching the win.
The contest had drama, skill, and power-hitting – everything IPL is known for – with Delhi eventually holding their nerve in the Super Over.
