Public viewing for Kangaroo suspended

Public viewing of the lone kangaroo Xavier has been suspended following the death of the kangaroo at Bengal safari: North Bengal Wild Animal Park in Siliguri on Tuesday. 

Alexa died Tuesday after a brief illness. Samples of the dead kangaroo has been sent to the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals at Belgachia to ascertain the cause of death said the park authorities. 

The deceased Animal Alexa was one of the three kangaroos recused in Jalpaiguri early this year. The three animals were named Lucas, Alexa and Xavier, among which lucas died on April 8 . It had symptoms of chronic myopathy and Alexa died on Tuesday, only Xavier is left at the park.

Alexa and Xavier had been in enclosure since May for public viewing but following the death of Alexa ,public view of Xavier has been suspended,said the park officials. 

Meanwhile, Director of the park  Dawa Sangmu Sherpa said public viewing for Xavier has been suspended till he adjusts staying alone. 

" Public viewing for Xavier has been suspended since Tuesday . The animal is alone and it might get irritated as it will not find its partner. Till he adjusts staying alone we have suspended public viewing", said Sherpa.   (EoM)
