Three Arrested with 500 Grams of Brown Sugar in Siliguri

In a joint operation, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Matigara Police arrested three people in Siliguri with a significant amount of brown sugar. The suspects, identified as Akhruj Jaman, Bilal Sheikh, and Krishan Barman, are from Malda and Cooch Behar.

The police acted on a tip-off and intercepted the trio near Jora Bridge in Matigara on Saturday night. A search led to the discovery of 515 grams of brown sugar, valued at around ₹20 lakh. They also seized a scooter belonging to the suspects.

During questioning, it was found that Akhruj and Bilal had traveled from Malda to Siliguri to meet with Krishan Barman. Their plan was to deliver the brown sugar using Barman’s scooter, but they were caught before they could proceed.

The suspects were presented in Siliguri court on Sunday, and police are continuing their investigation into the case.
